…the old folks sat at round tables with flower vases and white tablecloths, chatting about the meal. On the left side, people sat in beds on wheels. They didn’t move at all. They stared blankly into space. I was young back then and the sight of them frightened me. I was very grateful that my grandmother was not one of those people.
